I'm sure you don't remember me, but we were together (not in a biblical sense) in W village in the early 70s. I kind of competed (unbeknownst to me)with you to play with Brownie and Sonny. We were in an old abandoned bldg way east on houston st. I was there first and then you showed.
You came in like you were packing fire with all those harps strapped to u'r body and there I was this skinny, long-haired white girl with mine tucked in my pocket and waist band.
at the time, we were all hanging out in the w/ village in the kettle, folk city and on the streets til early mornings.
At the kettle, while we were all hanging out, you had me play, and you liked it, and gave me some tips.
it was your producer who heard me play I think at folk city and got all excited and sent me on these musical journeys to make me a star. can't remember his name. but I didn't like him.
Then on to Louisiana Red. his mom gave me cookies.
You, Bill dicey and others all helped me out, with little tips here and there because you thought I was good and knew I could be better. I'll never for get it.
I see you as a skinny, kind, good looking talented young guy who was willing to help, where there was a great sense of community, without any alternative reasons and I will always appreciate the confidence you gave me.
